Rollercoaster Week...

Well, our week....month....hasn't improved. Gerrick's work still isn't paying him, and he still isn't okayed to go back. So, my job search continues. I did finally get a call back today at the Cedar Rapids Country Club. That sounds pretty promising. I have been everywhere putting in my application and this is the first call I've received!

Things are getting pretty frustrating in our house. It just feels like everyday we see the worst of humanity at work. Lawyers, insurance companies, and company bigwigs are only watching out for the dollar, meanwhile we have none to watch. We went to get food stamps and were told because there is a Workman's comp issue they won't help us. This is also the case for a striking employee. So we are looking at about 6 weeks with no paycheck. I am not saying we won't get through, I know God will bring us out, it just doesn't seem like the struggle is right. People all over our country live their entire lives on the government and we can't get food stamps for a few weeks. I just don't get it, but then again, I guess I'm not supposed to. I stress to the kids that life isn't always fair, maybe I should listen to myself!!!

Gerrick is healing quickly! His range of motion at his first real physical therapy appointment was three weeks ahead of schedule. He still has the brace, and will for a while. He is still on the couch and on the pills!!! Today he went to his regular doctor and his blood pressure was still elevated. He also had him tested for diabetes. Because of this he gave him a prescription for a gym membership. With the prescription our flexible spending account card will cover it......but when we called for verification they said we had to pay first and they would reimburse us. Well, I guess if I had the money I wouldn't need the card!?!?! Just another example of insurance companies not using their noodles!!!

Keep praying for us! We are keeping our heads up, but it is getting harder. Gerrick is really slipping into some depression. I know it will help when he feel physically able to be a help again, but the task of all this really has him down.

Tomorrow we get to go to a wedding. Miss Betty and Kevin are getting married!!! Betty came over last night so that I could do her nails for her. Shirley came too and let Reagan paint hers! They were green with white tips, very "in". Betty ended up staying until after 11 and just had a great time! It is her first marriage and she is just beaming!

After the wedding the kids and I are entering our chili in the church chili cook off! It's pretty killer! We also made a 10 pound apple crisp to take! Should be fun!

Hope everyone is great! The kids keep telling me I promised a picnic with all the family this summer and the leaves are already turning! We gotta get going on that one....soon!

End of a long weekend.

Ok, I didn't get the pics on.....but I have been busy. On Friday, which is pay-day in our house, I had a big problem arise. Gerrick didn't get paid. He was injured on the job, and should be getting workman's comp pay, but his work is refusing to hand it over. They are trying to say that he got hurt playing sports and is trying to get the company to pay for it...... Have you seen Gerrick?!?!?! No offense, I love the big guy, but he doesn't look like a huge sport's participator, does he? The doctor can tell exactly how Gerrick got his injury, the seat belt across his right shoulder to hold it back while his body was flung forward, but they still want to fight it! So.....my point....I've been job hunting. I put a bunch of aps in on Friday and Saturday to see what happens. So, if any of you in CR know of any jobs, let me know!

Gerrick is getting better, but it is very slow. The shoulder, of course, hurts, but also his armpit. It has been shut off to air as his arm is held to his body. I dry it often and put powder on it, but it still hurts a lot. He is still on the ice machine for pain, and is taking pills constantly! I think he will need re-hab before the end of all this! Today he tried to go to church with us. He had to leave ABF (adult Sunday School) several times to get some air, and ended up throwing up during service. He didn't do well. He slept most of the afternoon, and is up now doing some e-mails.

Please pray for our fiances as we don't have the luxury of a huge nest egg to lean on. Pray that we make it through the next few weeks as we wait for the lawyers to do their jobs for us. Pray for the kids as they are stuck in the house with us as he heals. I have faith that we will be fine, but Gerrick and I are a little on edge anyways!!

Thank you, again, to all of you that have called or stopped by this week. It is so wonderful to see all the people that are praying for us on a daily basis.
