I woke up this morning with awful pain in my knees. Gerrick brought me some medicine and I went back to sleep. Keghan got Reagan up and brought her into me to feed and change. Then I let the kids watch t.v. for awhile until I could get up. I can't believe how much I hurt! I am feeling a little better now, but I have to work tonight so that should fade.
I felt bad for being a bum this morning, so I took the kids to the pool again. They had a good time. They really love the water! Tomorrow we are going to Cedar Falls for the parade. I am worried about the weather forecast. It looks like it could be a rough day! As long as it doesn't rain during the parade we should be good! Have a great day. Enjoy the weather while it lasts!!!
Well, I tried running again tonight. I walked the first block and a half, and felt good. So, I started jogging. The first two steps of jogging sent immediate pains through my knees. It was as if someone just whacked me. Then event the walking hurt again. I continued through the 1 1/2 mile walk and finished. I tried running 3 more times only to experience the same pain. I am really disappointed. I finally like an exercise, and I can't do it!!!!!
Well, time for this old lady to go to bed. 7:30 comes early after working until 11:30! Luckily the kids like to relax in the basement for a while in the morning! I can have my coffee and news in peace! If anyone has any suggestions for the running, they would be greatly appreciated. I did get the new shoes, but haven't tried the braces. I just don't understand why my body acts 100. I would think it would be my hips that would give out first!!
There is no rain, and that means---POOL!!! I am so happy. I tried to get up early this morning to run before I go to the pool (to feel better in my suit). But my knees were hurting worse than last night. I found ibuprofen really helps, but without it I am in extreme pain! The kids made visors for the parade on Saturday. We did that yesterday when it was raining. They turned out really cute.
As I say that, Braydon ripped all the stickers off of Dax's hat. What a poop-head!I have to work tonight. After a week of rainy days, I am happy to go. I am really sick of the kids' fighting. Last night after dinner, Gerrick went to bed! I was stuck bathing the boys and getting the dinner dishes done, and getting everyone to bed by myself! What a jerk. Then he got up at 8:30 and wanted to watch T.V. We watched that new show, America's Got Talent. I thought it was a good show! There were some acts that were like a train wreck, and you just wanted to stare! One lady was playing the harp and singing, she sounded really good, and they kicked her off! Then they let a guy in who played with dogs? Any way, it was a good show!
I am definitely running tonight. I have my new shoes, and a bottle of ibuprofen! I need it! I feel like I have gained 10 pounds. It is really hard for me to watch my food, so I need the exercise!!!
More rain? Oh well, I just keep telling myself we need it!Yesterday I put sunshine in the kids life my cooking an entirely yellow lunch. They thought I should do that again because of the rain. It is hard enough to find a balanced meal all in one color once, let alone two days in a row!! So today was red foods. It is the little things that keep these kids happy. I think I will take them to Wal-Mart to pick out a craft. They also want to bake cookies. That sounds good to me!! It isn't easy keeping these kids occupied on rainy days, but I am working on it. We did the painting thing, the on-line game thing, the reading thing, and the chalk on the basement floor. Gerrick loved that last one. My knees are still hurting. I am convinced my body was not designed for exercise. Every time I get a little ambition and do something, I fail. Two years ago I worked out for 1 hour every night I worked. That was about 4-5 nights a week. After 4 months I lost NO weight. That was very discouraging. So, I quit. Now I really want to run, but also want to be able to walk afterwards!!Time to get the kids laying down for rest. Then off to the store!
I have started going through old pictures, and scaning into the computer the ones I want to keep. This is my favorite picture of Keghan from when she was little. Her hair was so curly!!!! I am sure I will find more loss treasures in the big-box-o-pictures!!
Now, I know we need the rain for the crops. I am very aware of that. But, why can't it rain overnight and let my kids play out during the day? They are driving me crazy!!! I swear, I am going to let them kick the crap out of each other so I don't have to listen to it. How can they fight so much?? Hopefully tonight we will be able to go to the pool. The kids need to run off some energy! Reagan has been very grumpy as well. I think she is getting yet another tooth. Maybe soon she will eat real food and kick her 6 jar-a-day habit with the baby food. That gets pretty expensive! Last night Gerrick and I were discussing more children. What is wrong with us? We are already thinking more?!?!?! I have had my tubes tied, and don't want to ever be pregnant again. He said he would like to adopt children with disabilities from other countries. I agree that there is definitely a need for homes for them. So, as soon as we are ready, we will begin the process for that. It probably won't be until Reagan is in school, though. I would hate to spread the family too thin while they are still young! A baby, or small child, with disabilities will be a big responsibility. But, what a wonderful challenge! This is years away, though, and who knows, maybe once we are diaper free we will decide we like that.
Some of you know that I was involved in a trip to Africa this summer. Unfortunately I will not be able to go. Gerricks new job is not really giving him that much vacation time for me to leave. The other mountain was the finacial aspect. The trip is full and I know they will do great things. I am not discouraged for future trips, I really feel God calling me to Africa. I will pray, along with the kids, for the team. We will also go to the airport when the leave and return. We have done this for a few other missions trips from our church, and the kids like to see who we are praying for. They are relieved I am not going, but understand why I wanted to. I really can't wait to go, and I know God has a time and place prepared for me. I will continue to be very involved in our missions trips from our church, and keep my eyes and heart open for my next opportunity. Well, time to get dinner going. The kids never seem to stop eating!!!!!
Today I took the kids to C.F. We did not get a lot of people seen =(. We went to Z's and I ate lunch, the kids had already eaten. It was great-large sub #2!! Then the kids were just out of control because I let them have ice cream. Now, I let my kids have ice cream at home, but just sugar free. So, they were buzzing. I took them to the park and let them run around. Then we took off for Parkersburg to see Aunt Abby and Lauren. They were already to go, so from there we went to Wal-Mart to do some running that Abby needed to get done. Lauren is really growing so much. Reagan and her are catching up in length, but Reagan could still eat her for a snack! They just look at each other and smile, until Reagan kicks Lauren and she screams!! Ahhh, cousins!I wanted to get to Great Grandma Carneys to get her cell phone up and working. I gave her one about a month and a half ago, and it is still not hooked up! But, being the bad grandkid, I went home. The kids were worn out and ready to be put back in the car. We always have plans to see all these people, i.e.-Grandma and Grandpa VanLengen, G'ma and G'pa Hoffman, and Sarah and B.J., but we always run out of time and steam!!! Sorry for those we didn't see, or maybe you feel like you dodged a bullet, who knows! My knees are still hurting like the dickens. I am going to definitely take Sonja's advice and do the brace thing when I can run again. The trouble is getting better to run. Joe was thinking maybe it was tendonittis. He had it in his elbow, and said it sounded similar. That sucks! I really hurt after being in the car for a while. My knees just stiffened right up!!!Well, we will be back this weekend for the Sturgis Falls Parade. It is hard to believe it is Sturgis Falls already. This year it will be 7 years since Gerrick and I were married Sturgis Falls weekend. WOW! Who knew we would still be married, and with 5 kids!!! Anyway, we will see more then! Watch out for that bullet.
Here is a great video of Shae with free run with the camera. This is last weekend at the lake. I would like to point out I was watching her, and you can hear me check on her!!! This is sooooo Shae!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZdatymDdcw
Good Morning. We, unfortunately, did not get a chance to got to C.F. yesterday. My knee pain has been intensifying. There is a spot on the inside of both knees that feel like someone hit me with a baseball bat. I was pretty worthless yesterday. I couldn't walk very far, and definitely didn't want to sit in a car for a long time. So, today after I do this and take a shower, I am off with the kids to see Grandpas. I did manage to get a few things done around the house that had been neglected yesterday. I finished doing the flowers for the front yard, and got my pepper plants in. My garden is looking great. One thing that isn't really coming in is the onions. I thought when I planted them that they were really dry. So, hopefully there is enough! Last night Gerrick and I were reading through the blog from the last two months. We decided that it is really nice that the family can see what we are up to. However, I think it is even better that we can look back and see what we have done. I have a horrible memory, and it is great to recall the last month. We laughed and had a great time reading through, hope you all do as well!
Here is a pic that Keghan apparently took while we were sleeping. I can no longer hear Reagan when she cries, so Keghan brings her in to us. Keghan has recently learned how to use the camera, and takes several pics a day!! Time to do some laundry so we can go for the day! Hope to see some of you later!
Yet another late work night. Tonight was a repeat of every other crappy night at work. I don't even want to think about that place again until Thursday!!!I just woke Reagan up to nurse because I am too lazy to pump! That, and she will be up at 3 to eat anyway, and I would be dry if I pumped. This way she sleeps the rest of the night, and I don't have to pump. I have also been in the habit of getting Braydon out of bed to go potty when Reagan feeds. This has kept his sheets dry for 3 nights. I know this is a temporary solution, but I hope the pattern because automatic for him. Today Gerrick took Shaelynn, Braydon, Dax and Reagan to the Wizard of Oz. He won tickets to meet and greet the characters before. Shae had a great time! Although, apparently it was cold in the theater.
Keghan didn't go because she went to a birthday part for her friend Lucy instead. She had a great time. They went to kindergarten together, but now attend different schools. So, it was nice to see each other and catch up on the fun. They wore their swimsuits and had hula skirts and flower necklaces. Keghan also did the Slip-N-Slide for the first time. Much fun, I am sure!!!While they were all off doing their fun I went shoe shopping. I was really bumming about not being able to run today, and wanted to get shoes so I can go tomorrow. I was using the shoes I bought at Wal-Mart 3 years ago for $17. Obviously not the best running shoes. I finally settled for a pair of Nike running shoes. I know I should probably not but Nikes because of the sweat shop thing, but I really couldn't find something in another brand. I tried New Balance, but they are really expensive! I would hate to buy them and realize my knees are just shot regardless of the shoe and not be able to run. So, I got the cheapest I could find without going to Wal-Mart. Gerrick was kinda disappointed that I didn't get something nicer, but oh well!Tonight I went to Wal-Mart to pick up Gerrick's Father's Day present. There I finally decided I am definitely getting a breast reduction next year. As I walked around an isle there were two boys who were doing the elbow jab and point at my chest. Normally I would just think they were laughing at the fat girl, or the lady with too many kids. But, being alone and in a semi-low-cut top, I knew what they were pointing at. I almost cried. I felt very uncomfortabe even walking to my car afterward. I feel there are no cute clothes that I fit in, and the ones I do make me look like Dolly Pardon! So, next year, off they go! Gerrick has been very against it, but he doesn't have constant back pain and leers from Wal-Mart stockers!!!I REALLY want to got to Cedar Falls tomorrow. So, I just have to talk the big man into it. That shouldn't be too hard!! He does pretty much whatever I want as long as it doesn't cost him too much! So, hopefully I will see some of you in Cedar Falls tomorrow. As for now, I am going to try to go to sleep. SWEET DREAMS!
