Shaelynn's Bug Story

A day or two ago Shaelynn was playing outside with Keghan while I was doing dishes. Out of the blue I heard a blood curdling scream! I quickly ran out the back door to see what the problem was. I saw Keghan and Shaelynn running in fear from the front to the back yard. When Shaelynn turned around she was tear streaked and still crying. I was very worried, but obviously they were physically fine. I asked what had happened, thinking a stranger had approached them, or they saw a big dog. Shaelynn explained that she was picking up rocks for her ever growing rock collection. One of the rocks that she picked up was not a rock at all. In her words, "I picked up a rock THIS BIG (about the size of a small mouse!!) and it said HISSSSSSS!!!" In Keghans explanation it was only the size of a quarter, but it probably looks bigger in your own hands! Needless to say, Shae is more picky about the rocks she picks up for her collection!

Dreading Work!

I am really dreading work. I know I shouldn't complain when I work a mere 15-20 hours a week, but I hate it!! I just get used to going to bed early and getting up early and now I have to work until 11 p.m. a half hour from home. I won't get to bed before 2 a.m., and that is guaranteed!! Summer is the worse for this feeling. All I want to do is light the grill, grab a margarita, and sit by my pool. Instead I have to put long pants, long sleeve shirt and socks on to go work in a hot restaurant!! Not fair! Oh, well, at least I have a job, right?? It could be worse, I could work full-time!!!!! What a dreadful thought!
The kids and I sat outside in the sun for a couple of hours today. They love the little pool we have for them, and I love the sun. Gerrick told me last year he caught me in another lie!! For the first 5 years of our marriage he thought I couldn't tan. I can, but the first day I am not in the sun, it is back to glow in the dark white. So that either means I was lazy for the first 5 years and never played outside. OR, I am lazy now and never do any work and JUST play outside. I vote for the second!!!!
The kids are playing Nursing Home. What??? Didn't we play fun things like House, Hotel, and School? Nursing Home, how exciting. Just so they don't start diapering each other or using a bed pan!!
Time to get Reagan up. If I let her sleep too long she won't nap for her dad, and I will hear about it!!!
Love to all, and see you soon!!!

This one's for Uncle Joe

As I was going through and filing pics on the computer, I found this. I thought it was cute!
More later.....time to do the laundry...two of the crazy people are sleeping so I have a minute!!!

What a 4th!!!

WOW, we had a great time yesterday!!! Sean, Jodi, Jackie and Kevin came over for dinner. We also invited the neighbor over because they had no family coming, and they are just so nice!! They help us out a lot around here. So, Gerrick grilled some ribs and chicken and I made potato salad, cole slaw, deviled eggs and beans. I had the kids shuck corn in the morning, and forgot to boil it. Luckily Jodi brought a veggie pizza, so we had veggies!! Everything was very good, a little late, but very good.
After dinner we played croquet and had cake and ice cream for Sean's Birthday which was on the 2nd. The kids really love having Uncle Sean and Aunt Jodi here! They don't see them very often, but it seems like it doesn't take them long to remember how much fun they are!
We headed downtown around 8:30, I was worried we wouldn't find a spot! But, we just wiggled in around the people that had been there all day! The kids really liked the fire works. I thought they were a lot shorter than last year, but they really do a great job of choreographing them to the music!
Unfortunately Jackie, my mother-in-law, was not able to make it to the fire works. She suddenly got very sick. She said it is going around at her work. Hopefully none of us get sick!!! She stayed home and slept. Hope she is feeling better!
Well, it was a busy day, and full of fun! That is what summer is all about!

To My Mom

To My Mom....I love your garbage can. I would put it on your blog, but I can not comment. Who am I to question the beauty of your garbage can? If you remember, I just purchased my first one last year! So, I have not the appreciation of garbage can beauty!!!! Please forgive me if I seemed sarcastic, it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Have a great Fourth, and I love you!

Monday

Today was LONG!!! I started the cleaning and cooking for the BBQ with Sean and Jodi and G'ma and G'pa. I asked Gerrick to boil the eggs because he always does it perfectly. When he was dumping the water out, he spilled the boiling hot water on hes belly. It immediately blistered and popped. He is in a lot of pain. I was going to send him to the doctor, but after talking to my mom I decided to wait. The pain means that it is just the first layer of skin, otherwise he would have damaged the nerves and have no pain. So, I put some ointment on it and covered it. He laid down and fell asleep around 7. Hopefully the heat at the fireworks wont be too much for him tomorrow.
I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Abby!!! This is one extended family birthday that I do remember. I just remembered the families', so it will take me awhile to get the add-ons!!!
Have a great 4th, and I hope everyone is well.

Here are the kids at the concert.

Great two Days

What a great few days. Yesterday we went to the Go Fish concert. It was very hot, and there were TONS of people were there. I think they said that there were 200 last year, and there had to be at least 3 times that this year. We were so far back to begin with that I couldn't hear a thing. So we moved closer and the kids loved it. They were playing on the park equipment and sitting on top singing. They really put on a great show for the kids. There was also a carnival there. We were able to get that funnel cake we wanted last weekend. I bought 20 ride tickets thinking that the kids could each do 5. Then I noticed that the rides were 3 tickets at least. So they rode 2 rides, and that was enough. The first one they went on was a fly around airplane ride. It was wooden, old and had no seat belts. It was a little scary. The next one was an old wooden train. Dax was glad to be on a "choo choo", but I was worried it would fall apart. Then I spent $7 for the kids to throw a dart at some balloons. They each won a little fish. So, we quit the rides, gave away the rest of our tickets, and headed to the concert area. I ran into the lady that delivered Dax. She went to the church we attended there. She was surprised to see how big he was. It was nice to see her. We also ran into a lot of people from our church as well. It was a fun time!!!
Today after church was the annual church picnic. What a time! They roasted a hog and had soft serve for dessert. The kids did a water balloon toss and other relay games. There was also horseshoes and volleyball. I enjoyed the chance to chat with the ladies from my Wednesday night bible study. We don't meet in the summer, and I have missed it. They are really a blessing. It is like having family around again!
After the picnic the girls and I went to Wal-Mart to stock up for the week. It is really amazing how much food we eat! The picture above shows what the boys did while we were gone!! I also caved and bought the canopy for their beds. Tuesday their Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Sean and Aunt Jodi are coming, and I want it looking good. I also want to buy a new shower curtain. As those of you who have been here know, mine is molding. I found out a $3 liner would have prevented that, but we are not that smart!! The problem with buying a new one is that Wal-Mart no longer carries ours, and the colors have to match the wallpaper and the wall color. So, I will have to hunt online, and that won't happen before Tuesday. So, Sean, Jodi, if you are reading, my shower curtain is gross, but I do clean my bathroom, almost daily in fact!
One bad thing from the last few days is the my knees are acting up again. I felt great for two days, then I worked Thursday and Friday with no pain. After work on Friday, as I said earlier, I ran. I felt fine Saturday. Today I woke up early and went for another run. I had a great time. I did my normal 1 1/2 miles and made it home in good time. Then, I sat down on the floor. I couldn't get up. I had to have the kids get me a water and Gerrick got my pills. I threw myself on to the couch, which hurt a lot. I sat and ate my breakfast with ice on my knees and was able to go to church. By the time we were at the picnic my knees felt much better. I haven't even taken any more pain pills, and they are fine. I think I am crazy, but maybe I will see a Doc. I just want to run and not have pain.
Time to get the kids washed for bed. They are gross from the picnic and playing in the backyard. Have a great night!
