Job

Just another really quick post. Gerrick is one of the 3 finalist for the job. He meets with the President of Sysco Iowa on Monday. He is really nervous, but even if he doesn't get it this is still a chance to show that he is looking to bigger things than street sales! I know he will do well in presenting himself, but pray anyway!!

Update

Just a quick update on the job front. Gerrick was told on Monday that he had not been with the company for two years, and for that reason they are going another way with the job. In less than a month, Gerrick will have been there for two years. This was very disappointing for Gerrick, but, we move on.

Gerrick had a food show on Tuesday. He had all but one of his customers show up!! Most of the salesman are happy to get a few people there! He sold a lot and showed a lot! He was exhausted when he got home late that night, but with good news. His big boss had seen how busy he was, and how his customers loved him and told him to fill out some form and apply for the job again!!! So, fingers crossed and hands folded, we wait!!

Good afternoon!
This weekend really flew by! We weren't too happy about the weather report, but did our best to enjoy it anyway. On Sunday afternoon Shaelynn came in and told her dad that she had found the mushrooms we hunt for in the spring! Gerrick didn't believe her, as they are hard to find and it seemed a little early for morels. But, to his surprise, there they were, 3 little greys on the side of our house!! We were all excited to see the first mushrooms of the year and were quickly in the car and off to the woods to see if there were more out. We went to two great spots and found some great land to hunt, but no mushrooms! A lot of the area was underwater just a few days ago, so it might be a bit too soon! Hopefully we will go out again tomorrow and find a few! We did find 2 deer skulls, a full deer skeleton, several pretty flowers, tons of snail shells, and rocks! I let the kids keep the shells and rocks, but to their dismay, no bones were allowed in the van!!

Gerrick was delivered a blow a week ago when his boss informed him that his salary was going to be smaller because of the large commissions he is pulling in. This is kind of difficult to accept, seeing how he is making the company more money, but taking home less. But, as with all things, it is in God's hands. Then, he recieved news on Wednesday that his boss was being demoted. This left his job open. Gerrick had just said that he would not turn down a district managers job again, and two days later one was opened. He is still not sure on his chances, or that he will like the job better, but he is applying. Pray that whatever happens we will find a way to continue to get by on his pay. I have no doubt that we will survive, it would just be easier with the promotion.

Well, time to get to my next class.....last week before finals, and I am HAPPY! Summer can't come soon enough!!
Love to all!
