My Rainbow??

Today was delightfully nice. I got up early and went to help out at the day care that I used to take the kids to. She paid me very well, and even brought her car over for me to use while I am working for her. I also got to ask her to if she had room for the little ones during the day, and she did!!! THEN, Gerrick went to call on the car that has been in the shop (at $10 a day), the guy on the phone said that someone from our church had already paid for it and has the keys!! Just when I thought I had only seen the worst of people in the world, I get to see the best! I cried! THEN, at church tonight several people came up to me to see if everything was ok, and to offer help in any way. One gal, who was with me on the trip to Parkersburg in the spring, gave us three bottles of laundry detergent and some fabric softener! I was down to using the free samples that Gerrick has for work.....thank the Lord for my church and family!

We are still staring down a large utility bill, but I have a strange peace about it. I know that all will be fine. Tonight in my 4th and 5th grade girls group that I lead at church, a girl told me that sometimes things get worse before they get better. She used an analogy of the road in front of her house, she said that it had gotten lots of pot holes and was VERY bumpy, but to fix it and make it smooth again they had to tear the whole road out, making a bigger mess first! WHOA!!! Never have I heard such truth from a tiny little girl!

Still going up and down!

Today was a real roller coaster!! I had received a job offer from Kohl's yesterday, but it was only $7.50 an hour! So, I still had another job interview today for Cedar Rapids Country Club and I went. I was amazed at how beautiful the grounds were. The restaurant it's self was amazing, but as I was taken around to the other areas of the club I was in awe. They are willing to start me out at $8 an hour, which is standard for them. However, the gentleman who hired me is going to see about starting me at $8.50. After my initial training I will still receive that, plus a 8% sales incentive. Again, he wanted to start me at 10%, but either way he thinks I will move up the pay scale quickly. The only down fall of the job is that it is days and nights, well.....both really. I will work lunch and dinner every day except Wednesdays and Sundays. I know it will be a lot, and will probably cut back after Christmas, but right now I can't turn away money! I was really excited about the job, until I came home. Gerrick had been calling to see why our flexible spending account card had been completely shut off (leaving us no way to pay for his physical therapy) and found out, from the card company, that he had been terminated! NICE! Well, his employer said that wasn't true, but we still have no access to the card. So, my good news was really overshadowed by the bad. Gerrick has to cancel his therapy and doctors appointments until it is all figured out.

I am really starting to think that his company is ruled by demons!! I asked him last night, when we found out about the card problem, to call the leader of the ethics committee. He told me the ethics board leader is the LAWYER that he has been dealing with!! Isn't that a little paradoxical to have a lawyer as the head of the ethics board?!?!?!?!? I tell ya, this company is a little backwards to me right now!

Well, I need to get back to my classes. I have to really keep on track now, with the job and the family responsibilities!! It might kill me, but if it doesn't it will definitely make me stronger!

Weekend......

Well, another weekend that just flew by. The boys spent theirs at Grammie's and loved it!! They bought Halloween costumes and toys, she spoils those kids!! We spent Friday driving around putting in more applications. We had a "girl" movie night....some silly girl movie in my bed so I could fall asleep!! The girls love when the boys are gone and we don't have to get a gender neutral movie! Then on Saturday I went alone to put in a few more apps. I am really tired of all that!!! Then in the afternoon we went to the wedding. It was really nice. The pastor was really telling them the truth about marriage. I am sure ours did, too, but when you are at the alter you just think it will never happen to you, after all, you are soul mates! LOL! It was nice, anyway. Reagan kept asking, "Is this the wedding yet? Where's the cake?". We left the reception early in order to be at the church in time for the chili cook off. There was a chili made from turtle, one with deer meat, and lots of others!! Our chili won kids' choice, which I think is appropriate! Then we watched a movie, The Second Chance. It was a great movie! I highly recommend it, although there is a little "language". We left the church around 9:30pm and were back twelve hours later for Sunday school! Everyone was pretty tired, so we just sat around and discussed marriage, raising kids, and how no one ever tells you the truth about either!!! I was relieved to hear I wasn't the only one in our church to spank, or feel like some days I just want to run away and not leave a forwarding address!! It was funny!

Anyway, nothing new to report on Gerrick. No check yet, but we are still alive and have all our utilities still turned on. We have food in our fridge, although our freezers are looking bare! The kids have fall clothes to get them through and the van still has half a tank of gas. We are above water, but barely!
